Keeping The Game Safe, Fair And Fun

Thank you volunteering and being a referee, or for thinking about being a referee. Whether you  actively volunteered or were recruited (many of us started this way), refereeing is a great way to get involved in AYSO soccer. And it is FUN… really.

Referee Classes

Referee certifications are good forever! If you have already taken a referee class and have your Regional Badge, you do not need to take another Regional Class. You are welcome to attend a class if you would like a refresher.

Mentoring / Assessment

Region 19  has an ongoing referee mentoring program.
It is intended for new and existing referees who want to improve their refereeing skills along with Intermediate or Advanced Referee Candidates who are working toward their Intermediate or Advanced Certifications.

2018 Laws of the Game Update

There are a few new updates/changes to the Laws of the Game for 2018/2019.

Heading the Ball
Consistent with the US Soccer mandates on heading the ball, the AYSO is implementing the rules for heading the ball (12U and down)
Section 1 rules for 2018 include no heading for 12U and below for ALL divisions and programs. 

Punting and Drop kicking the ball
Section 1 and Section 10 rules for 2018 include NO punting or drop kicking the ball for 11U and below.
Note that punting and drop kicks are now allowed in 12U.
