Thank you volunteering and being a referee, or for thinking about being a referee. Whether you  actively volunteered or were recruited (many of us started this way), refereeing is a great way to get involved in AYSO soccer. And it is FUN… really.

Referee certifications are good forever! If you have already taken a referee class and have your Regional Badge, you do not need to take another Regional Class. You are welcome to attend a class if you would like a refresher.

Consistent with the US Soccer mandates on heading the ball, the AYSO has implemented new rules for heading the ball.

Mentoring / Assessment

Region 19  has an ongoing referee mentoring program.
It is intended for new and existing referees who want to improve their refereeing skills along with Intermediate or Advanced Referee Candidates who are working toward their Intermediate or Advanced Certifications.

Becoming a Referee

The benefits of being a referee

No mid-week commitments
Your kids will think it is cool when you go out to referee

What are the prerequisites for becoming a referee?
We will teach you everything you need to know and give you a cool referee uniform
How do you become a referee?
1) You must be at least 12 years old.
2) Register as a new or returning volunteer with AYSO at (must be done every year)
3) Take the online Safe Haven course MT02 at (not needed if already completed after 2012)
4) Do ONE of the following: 
     (Please signup for your class ahead of time by filling out this form or by contacting    - provide your name, AYSO ID#, email and phone)

Take the Online Basic Referee Course R002 at   AND
Take the Basic Companion Class  - 4 hours in person class
